We may have never before been surrounded by so much uncertainty as these days. Global ecological, social and economic issues interfere with our everyday life, this year in 2020 this has become really visible.

We are facing much uncertainty caused by the ever changing factors of our world. We may feel we want to act immediately. In order to act efficiently we need to become aware of the issues and find out how to act. Theoretical knowledge itself is not enough. It is also necessary to find our own place, our own role in this complexity, the place from where we find courage and act with authenticity.

This workshop is an inner journey to deepen ourselves in the way we feel part of the living Earth, to experience ourselves as part of the living ecosystem, the web of life. We explore together our own reactions, feelings about the state of the world and support each other to find hope to transform them into engaged action.

During the workshop we use participatory learning, individual, pair and group activities, with nature-based outdoor exercises, sharing and reflection. Instead of the usual head-based cognitive knowledge, this workshop leads us to learn through our body and heart. We use Joanna Macy’s groupwork, the Work That reconnects, we sit and share in council and we draw to the methods of ecotherapy, learning through and with nature. Taking part in all activities are based on voluntary participation, exercises are invitations to explore our inner world, and I hold the space for non-judgmental sharing and true listening.

The Work That Reconnects is rooted in systems thinking, socially responsible spirituality and deep ecology. Joanna Macy, the woman who created this methodology, first started to work in the 1970ies with activists involved in anti nuclear movement. She first called it “despair work” as it was the first group work allowing people to freely express their despair in the era of cold war. Later she arrived to Eastern Europe, and worked with survival communities of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster to ease their pain and heal their trauma.

The aim of the workshop is to look at our own motivations and to become aware of our own resources to act effectively in order to build a life sustaining society and a regenerative lie for ourselves and our communities. It calls us to explore our feelings about the global ecological, social state of the world, to tap into our inner drive to act and to find our true place within the ecosystem we are part of.

“News about climate change and ecological crisis becoming more and more depressing. It is hard to stay calm and look at the situation with a clear mind. Ági creates the group activities with a good sense of balance, to ease the anxiety of participants and supports them to turn it into meaningful action. The workshop is a gentle journey deep into ourselves, reconnecting with our purpose.

“Ági’s deep ecology workshop has been an important part of my human ecology courses in the past 6 years. To me the main learning is to learn to give gratitude regularly to all the living beings who make it possible for us to  exist.”

András Takács-Sánta

ELTE University, associate professor, Head of Human Ecology department

“The workshop was a great reinforcement to me about how important is my connection with Nature in maintaining my inner balance. In order to actively taking part in creating a life sustaining environment, we need to liberate ourselves from the paralyzing effect of the state of the world.”

Do you feel sometimes lonely in the everydays life holding on to your tasks as a mum? Would you like to take a look and understand the changes you have gone through since you become a mother?

The Mother’s journey course is a unique opportunity to meet and to connect with fellow mums, to reflect together on the changes and learning you experienced with motherhood. The group can support you in reflecting on your life path, becoming aware of your new competences and gaining strength using your new skills in your every day life.

What you can gain from the course:

  •  A holding group and support from fellow mothers, meaningful me-time
  • Self development reflecting on the changes motherhood brought into your life
  • Mindfulness based exercises outdoors in Nature
  • Creative art activitieis for self expression and reflection
  • Quality me-time

BECOMING A MOTHER IS A RITE OF PASSage, crossing the threshold into another phase of our adult life as a mother, an opportunity for self development and realising our life mission. Motherhood, especially in the first years is a uniqe opportunity for facing old patterns and overcoming them. As mothers it is utmost important to connect with the cycles of Nature, elements, healing plants, with the outdoors. We are entrusted with a new life on planet Earth, therefore ecologcial consciousness gains a new meaning for us. We would like our children to look up to us when they grow up. We remind ourselves about this reconnection, using the Mother Nature card deck and meeting in the Mother’s journey groups.

Based on previous experience with the group, bringing your child will distract you from focusing on yourself, so we do recommend to organise childcare and take part on your own. We try to be flexible in arranging your participation in order so that you can meet your child’s needs and focus on yourself.

“It was really refreshing to get out from the treadwheel of my every days as a mum, and relax and look inside. It should be part of everydays to exchange with other mothers. Finding community with fellow mums made me stronger feeling that I am not alone. Activities helped me to express my feelings, that was liberating.I gained a great loads of self esteem, me-time spent in a  meaningful way. I gained new friendships. I am grateful for my third child who conceived during the 6 weeks course.”
